More About Africa

Africa’s economy is considered pretty diverse and varied in its own sense. It seems to have two contradicting sides. This is with having the poorest region, Zimbabwe; as well as the most successful diamond and gold resource, Botswana and South Africa.

The only thing about Africa to consider is the rampant corruption in their government bodies. If this can be eliminated, there will be more progress in Africa. Thus, instead of getting mainly financial support for the distribution of food and the like for the most depressed communities in Africa; the best help they can receive is to build infrastructures in Africa. If there will be factories, or more establishments in some areas they have; these people will have jobs. What the government can offer is very cheap labor. Of course, not all parts of Africa can be developed. With its rich natural landscapes; and the many animals that thrive on these lands, most parts of Africa are better off untouched by modernization.

Nigeria is the most populated area in Africa. It also has one amongst other countries in the world that has the fastest growing economy. This is because of these oil reserves; which are considered the largest in the world.

The Economy

The economic growth of Africa picked up from the years 1995 up to 2005.  This averaged to about 5% last 2005. Thus, surprisingly, other countries experienced a much higher growth. It has, in fact, reached more than 10% that same year. These countries would be Sudan, the Equatorial Guinea and Angola. It is quite amazing because of the fact that these three countries have just begun their petroleum extraction on their direct petroleum reserves a few years back.

Africa's Dialects

Thus, it is also estimated that Africa has more than one thousand languages. There were even reports that show around two thousand languages. These languages are divided mostly by two origins; the European and the African. In fact, Africa is being considered as a continent in the globe that is the most polygot. Most of the people there speak two or more languages. It would mostly be European and African. Hence, it is stated that Africa has considerably 4 major native languages.

The so-called Afro-Asiatic language is an actual language family consisting of about 240 languages. This is widespread all throughout North Africa, East Africa, Southwest Asia and Sahel. About 285 million individuals are native to these languages.

There are also over a hundred languages that are being spoken by about 30 million individuals. This would belong to the Nilo-Saharan language.  This language is being spoken in Ethopia, Chad, Sudan, Kenya, Northern Tanzania and Uganda.

In terms of varied languages in the globe, the actual Niger-Congo language is considered the largest language and covers more of Sub-Saharan Africa.  In this part of Africa, most of these would be the so-called Bantu language. In South Africa alone, around 120,000 individuals use the Khoisan language. This language family has about 50 types. This part of Africa is being inhabited by the San and Khoi people.

Hence, all of the African countries have adopted the official language from other continents. This is subsequent to the colonialism era they experienced; but there are still a number of countries in Africa that still use different native languages that they have as their official language. An example of this would be the language called Swahili. In other parts of Africa, French or African French and English are the dialects being used for public speaking. This would be for their commerce, government, media and education. Thus, millions of these African individuals are currently using languages that are non-African in descent. This would be Portuguese, Arabic, Malagasy and Afrikaans. This would be for either public or private spheres.

Their Cultural Aspect

For their culture, Africa’s music is considered one amongst their most dynamic actual art forms. In fact, in the Arab world, Egypt is being stated to have its cultural focus. These sub-Saharan rhythms are mostly as a form of remembrance for the slave trade then. This is particularly in West Africa. These rhythms would include the blues, samba, jazz, rap, rock and roll and reggae.

It was during the 1950s up to the 1970s when these various rhythmic styles experienced a conglomeration due to the popularization of the Highlife music and Afrobeat. The modernized music of this continent would include the most highly complex and renowned choral singing found only in South Africa. This would also go for the soukus that is being dominated by actual music of the so-called Democratic Republic of Congo.

The most recent developments to these would be the African hip hop.  This would particularly include a form called the Senegal mixed with Africa’s traditional Kwaito; making it an added variant to Africa’s house of music. In South Africa, the Afrikaans music; is mostly composed by the traditional Boer Music. Other migrating communities later on introduced their music to this continent.

For the indigenous dance and musical traditions in Africa, it is being maintained by some oral traditions that they have. This would be from the dance and music styles of Northern and Southern Africa. In North Africa, their African music is mostly with Arab influences. As for Southern Africa, their African music is mostly from Western influences. These influences are, of course, possible because of colonialization.
Most of the African languages are usually tone languages. It is only with the pitch level that you will be able to determine its meaning. These African musical rhythms and melodies are also considered as their way of expression. Most of the instruments used for this would include the bells, lute, musical bow, the trumpet, flute; and the most common would be the drums.

Usually with a mixture of these rhythms, natives of Africa were able to form dances. These African dances are very important not only in their history and culture; it is also the mode of communication. This is because they use masks, gestures, body paint, costumes and other visual devices to depict certain stories, feelings and emotions. In fact, just by watching the performance of their dances, you will know more about their culture and the rich history that they have. You will feel a connection to their past and the emotions that they are feeling.

Attuned with Nature

Africa, as mentioned above, is a pretty diverse continent. It has a variety of individuals; and a contrasting status of living. Most of the people, although touched by colonialism, have their own set of values and traditions they can be proud of.  By understanding the people in Africa, you will really learn a great deal. Before, they didn’t have doctors there and medicine for them would be with the use of nature’s gifts. They believe in the existence of other entities aside from those that we see around us. Above all, they value and respect nature and everything it can provide.

Sometimes, when there is a native that is sick, they would assume that there is an evil entity that is present. They are very superstitious. They believe in so any things. This is what made them prone to abuses. When the possibility of modernization and urbanization was offered to them, it somehow led to slavery. Thus, areas in South Africa have so much to boast for when it comes to this.

Developments in Some Areas of Africa

Most of the areas in South Africa, especially those near the coasts, are already developed or are still being developed. More and more resorts are being constructed there. This would only mean that more investors are trusting South Africa. Seeing the pictures that they have is nothing compared to experiencing what South Africa can offer 1st hand. Their beaches are as exotic as it gets. The resorts are more of the modernized type already. The amenities and facilities can be considered as something else.

Their Market

If you plan to invest or buy a property in Africa, South Africa is the best. Thus, when buying a property there, you really need to get a good realtor. As mentioned, corruption is pretty rampant in Africa. If you can get a realtor who knows the ins and outs in Africa’s market, he or she will really be a big help to you. It is also best to ask a local there for referrals. Of course, they would know who can be trusted.

It won’t hurt if you go there directly to see the case of establishments there. It is better than relying on pictures and words. When going there, you need to have a guide who knows a majority of the dialects that they have. Even if English is a neutral language there, of course, not everyone there can talk the language. As mentioned, there are various dialects in Africa, it is best that you don’t get stuck in one of Africa’s regions without a single soul you can talk to. You can get in touch with their municipality as well. This is the best place to check the legitimacy of the papers being shown to you.

Thus, Africa is a wonderful place. It has treasures beyond comparison. If you are up for the great outdoors, an exotic get away in the beach; or you are more interested in their great safari adventure, Africa is the best in the world.
